“I know that there’s going to be a segment of people for which, no matter what we put out, this issue will not be put to rest.  But I’m speaking to the vast majority of people, as well as to the press: we do not have time for this kind of silliness.  We’ve got better stuff to do.  I’ve got better stuff to do.”

— President BARACK OBAMA, during a press conference after the White House released his long-form birth certificate.

I’m sure if McCain had won there would be a huge movement questioning his American citizenship due to his birth in the Panama Canal Zone… HAHA, I make myself laugh when I say such absurd things.

As I’ve been saying since the beginning, birtherism is just cowardly racism.

The birthers have a plan to block Obama’s reelection…and it’s surprisingly un-crazy.

This has to be unconstitutional until the birth certification system in America is federalized. It’s is like a Maryland justice department charging a doctor who euthanizes a willing patient in Portland of murder, even though it’s legal in Oregon and there is no federal mandate outlawing such an activity. Yeah, sure it’s wrong by your state’s standards, but not in the state that’s relevant.  a short form birth certificate is a completely acceptable form of identification in most states.
Also, let’s be completely honest; if Bush didn’t publish his long form birth certificate, these same people would not give a shit. I’m not saying that crazies on the other side wouldn’t try to make the same argument, but they’d be taken so much less seriously. This is ridiculous.

This, precisely. Any claim that birtherism isn’t ultimately about race is bullshit. Never in a million years would this happen to a white candidate.
